“I had painted him a piece of art for his last birthday and he gave it back to me, stating that it looked “unfinished” and that it felt like it was missing something. It was dark, mainly a deep purple and it was moody, just like his Scorpio nature. After our breakup months later, I completely painted over the hours of work I'd once put into it before, transforming it into a completely new painting. It was a cathartic outlet to let go of the sadness within but also what was surprisingly created seemed to be a new showcase of gratitude for the chapters of our lives we co-created together, and the one I'd been currently writing about self love, forgiveness, and healing. You can see the thick underpainting still exists beneath the surface, and parts of it shine through alongside the pinks and tears”
